What we collect
We collect data you give us directly (name, address, email, phone, payment info), data from your device (IP, browser, basic usage), and data from third parties (e.g. Klarna eligibility decisions).
This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, how long we keep it, and your rights. We are the data controller. Our ICO registration number is ZA567890.
We collect data you give us directly (name, address, email, phone, payment info), data from your device (IP, browser, basic usage), and data from third parties (e.g. Klarna eligibility decisions).
Primarily to fulfil orders, manage repairs, run your account, and provide support. With your consent, we also send marketing emails and personalised recommendations.
We rely on contract performance (your order), legal obligation (tax, consumer law), legitimate interest (fraud prevention, service improvement) and consent (marketing, non-essential cookies).
We share with delivery carriers (DPD, Royal Mail), payment processors (Stripe, Klarna), fraud-screening providers, and our cloud hosts (AWS Ireland). We never sell your data.
Most data stays in the UK/EU. Some processors operate globally — for those, we use UK IDTA / EU SCC contracts plus additional safeguards.
Order records: 7 years (tax law). Account details: until you close your account + 6 months. Marketing prefs: until you withdraw consent. CCTV in stores: 30 days.
You have rights to access, rectify, delete, restrict, and port your data, plus the right to object to processing based on legitimate interest. Exercise any right via hello@byte.co.uk.
See our Cookie Policy for the full list. Essential cookies need no consent; everything else is opt-in via the banner.
Our services are not intended for under-16s. We don't knowingly collect data from children. The Kids range is purchased by adults for children.
For any privacy concern, email our Data Protection Officer at hello@byte.co.uk. You can also complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk.
