1975 Paul Terrell opens the world's first computer retail store in Mountain View, California, he calls his store "The Byte Shop".

Soon after he met with Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak who told him about their Apple 1 Computer, Paul liked it and ordered 50 units...this is the start of Apple, the very first order, the very first sale, the very first stockist.

It was Paul Terrell that told a young Steve Jobs that an all in one, plug and play computer would be a much better product with wider appeal than the kit form boards being made and aimed at hobbyists.

In the late 80's Sir Peter Rigby bought the Byte franchise to the United Kingdom and enlisted the skills of legendary British designer Sir Terrance Conran to redesign the Byte logo as well as design the stores.

Byte was one of the first technology companies in the United Kingdom to have a website...here's a picture of what it used to look like back in 1997!

1996 Byte was Britain's largest computer retailer with stores nationwide including a superstore in Solihull.

As a young boy back in 1993, I fell in love with computers, technology and Byte when I visited the Byte Superstore in Solihull with my father.  I remember vividly the computers on display, the smell of the store, the software programs and most importantly Byte Kids!

Byte Kids...the place where I fell in love with computers, games, and the internet.

1998 PC World purchases Byte putting the Byte brand to rest and re-branding all stores.

2012 In a twist of fate I had the opportunity to purchase Byte from PC World Dixons.  I promised myself that one day I would bring this fabled brand back to the British High Street and create the best store and products in the world...that time has now come!
